Approval of Aug minutes
Motion made to approve Aug minutes made by Brittany H, 2nd by Mellissa. All in favor motion passed.
Approval of treasurer report for Aug
Brittany asked for the spending funds. Pat said $6,651.74 and Project fund has $26,659.92 total combined is $33,311.66
After review motion made by Mellissa, 2nd by Brittany H to approve Treasure report, all in favor motion passed.
Mellissa asked about the porta johns. We need to make a decision tonight which one will go away. R we having the Fun day at the upper park or lower park?
Brittany Miller asked about the porta john bill of $1340.00. Pt said they never sent a bill until now. The amount is from May thru August for the porta johns. We still have Sept and Oct to pay for yet.
Old Business
1. Update on gun bash tickets
Mellissa said they seem to be going very well. All I have is about 60 tickets left. That does not include with the tickets that are still out with others who are selling.
2. Update on Christmas lights & trees being made.
Mellissa said she asked Chad if he was going to make them for us and he said no. It was too much for him so Brittany and Mellissa asked Gary Baird if he would make them for us. He said yes. Pat asked if he was going to use the pallets and put together of buy lumber. Ryan Sides said he can get pallets and also Indiana Gazette has them stored out back of their building for those who would like to get them.
3. Update of storage shed cost.
Brittany said she would really like to get a piece of playground equipment up there before the storage shed. She wants to wait to see how much we make from the gun bash first.
Mellissa said she is also going send out letters for sponsorship early this year. She also said she went to the Borough meeting to ask for their blessing to go to the Community Foundation of the Alleghany’s for funding. Sue asked Jeffery as the attorney what he thought of this. Jeffery said he did not know enough about it to make a response. So this was put off until next month’s council meeting until more information can be gotten about them.
Mellissa said she will have someone from there come to next month’s meeting to explain to council about the program.
Brittany said she would like to know by next month’s meeting who the bands are going to be and pick dates for next month’s meeting or at least by November meeting.
Speaking of fun day discussion was made to have it at the Upper Park or Lower Park. Sue said she thinks we should do it at the upper park. Everything is there. The pavilion, tables, electric stage and all up there. Discussion was made on where to put the bon fire. We have a spot up there not around any trees and is flat. Decision was to have at Upper Park from 5 – to 7 PM.
4. Gift cards for Kristen and Gary Baird.
Mellissa asked why this s on the agenda. Pat said because it was to be noted that we did get the gift cards as discussed so it can be put on record.
5. Update concerns on Fun Day (Legion is having Halloween party same day as our event)
Hanna has all the fun ideas for this. Sue said it would be fun to bob for apples. Her granddaughter said no way. Mellissa said about ghost punch. Sue was checking out Oriental Trading for Halloween prizes ideas.
Brittany H, bon fire time frame. Brittany M was questions painting pumpkins also as a project. Sue asked about decorating cookies. Are we doing s’mores over the fire? How about hot dogs roasting over the fire. We can do donations again for the food. We made $201 in donations only from movie night.
We can also make spiders. Telling ghost stories. Hide small pumpkins around the field. Put a number on the bottoms and if you find one with a number you get a prize.
Brittany said we all could have a table with a project on it and the kids could go around the tables to do projects. Mellissa asked if we are going to purchase the hot dog sticks for roasting. She will check on the price of metal rods.
Brittany M asked if we could be someone to come play music around the fire. Brittany M said she would contact Jason Macintosh. He is a singer.
Mellissa said lets vote on an amount not to go over $350 for everything.
Maybe a photo booth for Halloween. Ghost stories can be done by Gladine and Glen about Bolivar. They would be great about telling them.
Brittany M said she likes the pumpkin hunt. Hanna said she can make the pumpkin photo booth.
Brittany or Mellissa could ask Monica to ready Halloween stories.
Date to decorate the park was decided for Oct 5th.
6. Decision on play equipment piece for Upper Park.
Brittany M asked what we want to do. She measured it and we have enough room. Put on hold for next month.
7. Update on ornament sales.
Mellissa said LaMantias has 13 remaining, Pat has 17 in the office and the school has 75 remaining. Mellissa said she has 19 people selling. Sue said she needs 15.
No other old Business.
Brittany Miller said a train is on sale in Market Place for $6,000. Parks should buy the train. Mellissa said to make an offer to see what they say.
We also have all the stuff left over from last year Polar Express event we had at Fire Dept. We need to do something with that stuff also.
New Business
Discussion made on Christmas Decorating. Dec 6 from 5 – 7 PM. Possible Grinch thyme and hold at Fire Hall again. Kids make little ginger bread houses. Everyone wear green. Hanna said she will be the Grinch and wear the costume.
Mellissa said we should start a monthly flea market at the lower park. 1st Saturday or Sunday of each month & can rent a spot for entire summer or just for a one - time thing.
Reasons to use the lower park, the grounds are flat, plenty of parking and kids can still use the playground. Start advertising in January maybe starting in May thru Sept. We could possibly set up a booth for food and drinks. We could do a different parks person each month.
Marianas’s doing salsa now. Do we want to do another sub sale? Mellissa to contact them for a set up date. Fall, winter, or spring date.
Nothing else to discuss.
